Caregiver Help for My Paralysed Brother
Donation protected
My Brother turned 50 in July of 2018. In November of 2018 he started having back pain. He then got to the point where he could not stand. He went by ambulance to the hospital for help. At the hospital they did MRI's and fount he had lung cancer. 2 masses in his lungs and on his leg. They began treatment but could not find the problem with his legs.
He was transferred to another hospital where they repeated the MRI's and discovered he had a cancer tumor on his spin. He was rushed into surgery where they removed the tumor but has left him paralyzed from the waist down.
They he was transferred to rehab to work on his mobility. The insurance company would not let him stay beyond March 15th, 2019.
Since November 2018 I had my father living with me who is a double amputee. The plan was to move my brother in with me and I would take care of both of them. My dad already was paying for a full time caregiver and we would let my brother share the care giver. My dad passed on March , 11th just days before my brother moved in.
My brother is now on disability which is about 1/3 his normal income. The medical bills are mounting and now my brother needs to pay for the caregiver which costs about $1000 per week. The caregiver takes care of my brother during the day when I have to work and I take care of him at night and weekends.
My brother does not qualify for any assistance so the caregiver expenses are all his to pay. That expense uses more than he gets on disability.
We are hopeful his legs will come back but now one knows. He still has many months of chemo to beet the cancer. In the picture you can see Brad with my father at Christmas just trying to stay positive.
Brad has helped many people throughout his lives with anything they need.
Please donate any money you can so we can lift some of that burden from Brad.
Thanks for reading this.
