Caregiver funds for Zach Merrill

A mother's love is never ending and she sacrifices everything for their children.
Our friend and former colleague, Zach Merrill is an Iraqi War Veteran that was diagnosed with Leukemia a couple years ago. For the last year he has been fighting for his life and the care he deserves. There have been many obstacles and challenges that no one going through cancer or any life threatening disease needs the stress of.
Things were looking up as he prepared for his recent bone marrow transplant, however, he was required to temporarily relocate to Nashville, TN to undergo the transplant and after care required to fight this disease.
Debbie Sibcy, Zach's mother made the decision to take a year off from work to care for Zach with the understanding that she would be given caregiver pay from the VA. However, upon arrival to this new temporary home and sacrificing her life back home to care for Zach, they were told that Zach's disease is considered a wartime illness and not a wartime injury, therefore she does not qualify for the caregiver pay.
Again, unexpected and unnecessary stress have reared it's ugly head and now instead of fully focusing on care and well-being there is the fear and anxiety of not being able to pay the bills that are accumulating back home.
Zach and Debbie made a great sacrifice when Zach joined the Marines and fought for our country where he was exposed to chemicals that resulted in Leukemia and the ordeal he is going through now.
Unfortunately, finances are always an issue but if you can find it in your heart to help lessen the burden I know Zach, Debbie and their family would be eternally grateful.
