Caregiver for Military Vet John Alig
Donation protected

My dad has been suffering from pancreatic cancer since he was diagnosed in November 2018. He is terminally ill and 90% disabled. My mom is a small woman at only 4’11” and 100 lbs which makes it hard for her to help him to the restroom and give him baths. They’ve hired a caregiver, however caregivers can be pricey at around $30 an hour. In order for their insurance to cover this cost, we will need to establish care for my dad with a PCP through the VA, which can take weeks or more. Once we have the PCP, we can apply for Aid and Attendance which will help cover some of the cost for the caregivers. The issue we are running into is that my mom would not get reimbursed for 6 months to a year. She does not have the funds up front to be able to afford a caregiver as much as they need one. We need your help.
My parents have done so much for our community/country and now they need your help. My dad served in the Navy for 22 years and even after he retired, he still worked for the military. He dedicated his whole life to our country. My mom broke up school fights, picked up kids that she didn’t know on the side of the road to take them to school because it was raining so hard and received an honorable award from the mayor of San Diego for being a lead volunteer during the 2005 fires.
To my friends: remember how my parents were in the stands at every game supporting us, every competition from west to east coast and all the pool parties they hosted for us?
To the parents of my friends: remember how fun my parents were? All the competitions? Partying in Florida during competition?
To my parent’s friends: remember how funny my dad is and all his dumb jokes?
To family: remember how much of a ding dong my dad is?!
To those that don’t know my parents: they’re awesome
Please share so we can have as many eyes as possible on this. Anything helps, even if it is just $5. Thank you all and may God bless you
