Sandy Franks has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer which has spread to her liver and lungs. Since the diagnosis Sandy will require around the clock care because she is terminally ill.
Sandy and her husband Don started the Title 7 program (an Indian education program) for Los Angeles Unified School District in the 1970s. Title 7 is still an ongoing program that has helped raise awareness for Indian Education. Sandy and Don have been married for 52 years. Together they devoted their time to their children, family, and Indian Education.
Sandy has fought many obstacles throughout her life. Three years ago she fought her way to overcame breast cancer. In 2011 she lost her son to an over 10-year battle of lung failure and her husband Don has recently been diagnosed with Dementia. Her daughter Laura now needs to care for her mother at home due to the 24-hour care Sandy requires.
Sandy’s family means the world to her, especially her only grandson Stone. Sandy is the most loving, loyal and caring person anyone could meet. It doesn’t matter what it is she will be there, even if it is to fill in as a grandparent for her nieces’ grandparents’ day at school. Sandy has always put the needs of others before her own: opening up her home to family and friends, making sure her husband gets the care he needs, making sure her son got the best care while he was alive, and supporting her daughter emotionally while Laura cared for the family. Now is the time for Sandy to be put first!!!
Without your help there is no way of affording the around the clock care that she needs due to insufficient funds.
