My dear friend, Kathleen has Motor Neurone
Disease / ALS. Everyone that knows her is heartbroken. Kath is a truly beautiful woman inside and out. She is kind and caring and always thinking of others.
She is my best friend, neighbour and a true kindred spirit. She is a wonderful mum to two little girls, Ella (6years old) and Layla (3years old) and an older daughter, Maya.
Kath has dedicated her whole working life as a nurse for the NHS for past 24 years, finally finding her passion working with children and families in public health.
Sadly she’s unable continue in this role, however continues to work part time basis in admin for her NHS team.
The disease is sadly progressing fast, she’s now. in a wheelchair and has limited use of her hands. Despite this she remains in great spirits and is hanging on to her independence. Del, her husband is honestly incredible, juggling his job and attending to the girls needs + all cleaning and cooking, it’s not been easy.
Unfortunately, at present there is no proven treatment for MND / ALS in the U.K.
Kath has an opportunity to go to the USA to undergo stem cell treatment. It has had very positive results for MND / ALS patients reporting 20-30%
improvement in their mobility.
This would dramatically change Kaths quality of
life and give her more independence + enjoy her
three gorgeous girls.
She is also hoping to have ongoing regular shed
light laser therapy.
This is an alternate, new treatment which has been used on people who have sustained severe brain injuries that have affected damaged neurones. The laser is said to invigorate these neurones.
We’ve estimated that to fly her & her family to USA for the treatments & aftercare will be in excess
of £30000
This would also include the cost of a shed light
laser.
After all the years Kath has devoted her life to help others - Let’s see what we can do to help this incredible woman and her beautiful family.
