Jane is almost two years old and one of the lights of our lives. She is always laughing at big sister, Lily!Unfortunately, shortly after her birth, we were crushed to learn that she has many congenital heart defects that require surgery if she is to live a long and free life. Our cardioloist at Johns Hopkins Hospital has confirmed that Jane has a narrowing of her aorta (coarctation), a malformed aortic valve (bicuspid aortic valve), two holes in her heart (atrial septal defects), and the right sirgerye of her heart is too big (right ventricular hypertrophic). Right now Jane is happy, and her heart is functioning, but surgery is just on the horizon. In addition, we discovered over the summer that Jane also has severe neutropenia. She can not fight any bacterial infections and remains susceptible to serious complications. Every time she gets a fever or even a small cut, we need to head to the Emergency Department for antibiotics and complete evaluation to ensure the infection does not become life threatening. Jane also struggles with a speech delay that makes the ordeal of frequent medical procedures frustrating and frightening for her. It would be a load off of our minds to know that we didn't have to worry about the cost of gas to and from Baltimore, for her numerous doctors appointments, copays for her ED visits, nutritious food for me so that I can continue to nurse her, and care for Lily so that she can have a fun, stress-free time while we attend to Janes medical needs. Any donations will be met with the utmost gratitude and we will post updates often!Thank you for your generosity.
