Care for Coby and Sons

Thank you for visiting the fundraiser to benefit Coby Heise and his sons Maddox (9), and Gage (5).

Several of us (Coby's friends) recently became aware, after much prying and interrogation, that Coby was facing the threat of foreclosure on his home. Further prodding -- despite Coby's famous reluctance to ask for help, or share details of anything difficult he's facing -- revealed the foreclosure process was close to getting underway.

Those of us who care about Coby and marvel at his continued courage in the face of poor odds decided we couldn't sit idly by while he and his boys lost their home, especially in the middle of the school year.

So we did something about it and hope you will too.

If you already know Coby or have heard the incredible story of how he has battled more life threatening health challenges in the past few years than most people face in a lifetime, then you know why he deserves help.

Being diagnosed with two terminal illnesses in a span of 10 days is hard enough by itself. Add in 3 rounds of chemo while simultaneously having to go through two long, separate divorce actions (which, for those who don't know, drained every dollar from the initial fundraising effort in 2012, something Coby never mentioned!), all while trying to raise two young boys, and you have a scenario most couldn't imagine going through. The bad luck has continued since then and to where we are now, with Coby no longer being able to stave off foreclosure without some help.

We are short on time and high on need. Fortunately, we finally "broke" Coby, made him swallow his pride, and encouraged him to allow this campaign so those who care about him (or find his story inspiring) can help keep him and his boys in their home. This will allow Coby to concentrate on his recovery and hopefully allow him to get back on his feet.

All funds raised through this effort will be used for the following:

✪ Prevent the foreclosure of Coby, Maddox, and Gage's house in Maple Corner, so that Coby can continue to recover without the worry of having to find temporary housing and sell his house immediately. Maddox and Gage can remain in the same school for the remainder of the school year.

✪ Assist Coby with the thousands of dollars in uncovered dental expenses necessary after surgeries to remove cancerous tissue from his cheeks, gums, tongue, and palate. Coby has had multiple extractions and fillings, and requires more. After losing many teeth when his salivary glands were damaged by chemotherapy (very little saliva equals rapid tooth decay), Coby needs a partial denture now, and will need it to be modified as more teeth inevitably fail.

✪ Hopefully give Coby a head-start in purchasing a used vehicle that he needs after his completely died recently.

✪ Perhaps allow for a modest reserve to be set up for the benefit of Maddox and Gage in the event of a worst-case scenario (Coby has no life insurance and had all of his savings and proceeds from the initial fundraiser wiped out when he was forced to hire two different lawyers in back to back divorce actions filed against him).

✪ Hopefully pay off some lingering debts incurred when Coby could barely work while undergoing three rounds of chemotherapy.

Those of us who know Coby also know he has difficulty asking for help. Most people do, especially in circumstances like this. He and his boys have been through enough adversity to last a lifetime. We hope you feel like we do, and will want to help a really great guy continue to fight his way back. Those closest to him know how legendary a fighter he is when the odds are against him. Lets show him how much we're all in this fight with him.
