Friends and Family,
My brother Armin has been struggling for the last year. He returned to New York from California at the end of June due to health issues that were preventing him from working and taking care of himself. Armin was diagnosed with MS and was living in my two bedroom apartment with my family and I. In July, Armin was diagnosed with eosinophilic esophagitis and classified by a mental health professional as falling somewhere on the autistic spectrum. We have been trying to get Armin approved for disability so that he can support himself. This process has been dragging on since the beginning of August. A week ago, Armin developed a high fever, became disoriented and he was taken to the hospital in the middle of the night, Armin was diagnosed with a very severe case of pneumonia and was in the ICU for 5 days. A chest tube remains in his back to drain the fluid from his lungs. He has improved, been moved to a regular room and is receiving PT every day. He will need around the clock care for a period of time and then a suitable place to live with a home care attendant visiting on a daily basis. We are doing our best to help, but we cannot afford to help him pay for rehabilitation or eventually his own apartment. If you are able and inclined to help, we would be incredibly grateful. If not, we appreciate your positive thoughts and well wishes. ❤️ With much love for Armin and appreciation of all of your support! The Cooper-Leary family ❤️
