Jaxon Nicklas is the four year old son of Kelsy Reeves & Josh Nicklas. Jaxon has spent the last 4 months undergoing a myriad of tests ranging from blood draws to a bone marrow biopsy. The final diagnosis is Aplastic Anemia and Short Telomere Syndrome. Aplastic Anemia is when the bone marrow does not produce enough blood cells. Short Telomere syndrome also affects cells and can lead to premature aging of other organs. Jaxon has already undergone two blood transfusions. On April 17th, Jaxon will be admitted to Children's Hospital, Pittsburgh and will begin a weeklong chemotherapy treatment to prepare his body for a life saving bone marrow transplant. Following the bone marrow transplant, Jaxon will spend up to 2 months on a special isolation floor in the hospital recovering. As you can imagine, this will be overly stressful for the family, including financial burden on Josh & Kelsy such as: loss of pay at work, continuous stays at Childrens and meals at the Children’s Hospital, plus babysitting services for their younger daughter, Ellie.
