On Thursday July 31st, my 13.5 year old French & English Bulldog Tulip was diagnosed with Anal Sac Adenocarcinoma. After noticing a slight irregularity on her bottom this past weekend, I felt a lump on Wednesday night and got confirmation from the lovely team at Bensenville Animal Hospital that our worst fears were true. Outside of the tumor, Tulip is in fantastic shape and her ever loving self. The initial exam was hopeful in the sense that it doesn't appear that the cancer has yet spread to other areas of her body and this sort of cancer is treatable with surgery and some follow up chemotherapy.
Immediately following the fairly upbeat appointment with the vet - we had a date with rush hour traffic and dealing with the unfortunate reality that even if it is a positive outlook for her, I absolutely don't immediately have the funds to pay for her treatment which made the bumper to bumper traffic that much harder to navigate with tears in my eyes. After getting out of the car, Tulip ran up to some random strangers with great vigor and greeted them like she does at every chance that she can - just to show off her infinite sweetness.
We have a follow up appointment this Wednesday at 2pm with an oncologist to further exam her and figure out what our next steps are. We're hopeful based on the initial exam that treatment is the right answer for her.
Treatment (if it's what the oncologist recommends) is estimated to cost $14k - which is an amount I just cannot spare at this moment. So, I'm asking for your help to pay for the surgery to remove her tumor and the subsequent chemotherapy to help get Tulip back to full health.
She is my best friend, my alarm clock (5:30AM sharp!) and she's got plenty of life to live and love to dish out. Your support would mean so much to me.
For Tulip,
Kyle
