Care for Tiki's Ongoing Treatment

Hi everyone,

If you're reading this, you likely have seen or heard about my little being of chaos (cat) Tiki, who's been with me since I was 19. She's almost 9 years young and loves kisses, racing around the apartment, and forcing us into creative positions in bed so she can sleep between her dads.

Two months ago, Tiki stopped eating and using the litter box. A first vet visit gave us a gastroenteritis diagnosis, a strict, 4-medication schedule, and a $1100 bill. When she didn't improve, we took her back and found the source of her constipation, got it cleared out, and she got back to eating.

Then, she started vomiting a lot and went from 10.8 lbs > 8.2 lbs in less than a month. This led to a thyroid test, which came back perfectly normal. She had started gaining some energy back with a prescription diet and anti-nausea medication, so in lieu of more tests, the vet suggested continuing symptomatic treatment.

A few days later, Tiki became lethargic again and slowed down her eating until it stopped again. She went down to 7.4 lbs. We got her an abdominal ultrasound and additional blood tests, leading to 3 diagnoses- IBD, pancreatitis, and hepatic lipidoses (fatty liver). Our current treatment regiment includes 3 different daily medications (appetite stimulant, pain reliever, and anti-nausea). Once the severity of her pancreatitis is determined, she will likely need an overnight vet stay for aggressive symptoms treatment and/or feeding tube.

For two months, we've been in and out of the vet, on and off different meds, and watching Tiki's condition improve and degrade. It's been unbelievably draining emotionally and financially, especially among other difficulties 2026 has brought upon our household. Tiki's been one of few constants in my adult life and it's devastating to see my bundle of cuddles and zoomies so skinny and too weak to jump on the bed or groom herself.

Any funds raised here will go straight to Tiki's continued vet bills and medications, but kind words and well wishes go a long way too. Thanks to anyone who sends love our way.
