Hello everyone! I’m Dana and I’m a birth and postpartum doula. My wonderful client Julia and her husband Chris are really hoping for your help and support. Julia and I met a few years ago during her first pregnancy. She booked postpartum food delivery and was very excited about her first baby, but she got very sick with preeclampsia during that pregnancy and her birth was highly traumatic, including a transfer to a higher care level hospital after she was improperly managed at her primary birthplace.
During her second pregnancy, Julia and Chris wanted a better experience but couldn’t afford birth doula care, so they hired me for prenatal visits and postpartum visits. We discussed options, birth plans, and processed the trauma of her first birth. The second birth went very well, and Julia and Chris were so happy! That was August 2024.
A few weeks ago, Julia texted me panicking that she had just discovered she was pregnant again and had not known because she had never gotten her cycle back after baby number two. She is 20 weeks already, and while they are happy to have baby number three on the way, Julia is very, very worried and overwhelmed at having 2 under 1 year old. We talked, and I brought up the idea of a doula registry for her this time so she can have ALL the support she needs, and she was so excited at the idea. Obviously, they don’t need any more baby items, but the physical, emotional, advocacy, and psychological support of a birth doula and patient advocate Julia really wants. I will support them regardless, but they are hoping to pay my reduced fee at least in part with this fundraiser registry. Any extra funds will go to other services to support Julia, Chris, and their beautiful children postpartum.
Julia and Chris have dedicated their lives and careers to caring for adults with developmental disabilities at Community Systems here in Connecticut. They are selfless, caring, loving people—the kind of people you want caring for a loved one who needs that support. Now, they need OUR support.
We appreciate any help you can provide and are so grateful for your support!
