2/25/26 : There hasn’t really been significant changes. The improvements are small but they are there.

2/3/26 : My mom continues to make small improvements. She is physically healthy, mentally she is inconsistent. She says random things. She was talking about a website she hasn't been on in 70 years. She not that old, she is 53. I asked what year it was and she said 72. That's the year she was born in. Yesterday morning when I asked she said 2017. I asked if she remembers me and she said hardly. But then a little later I asked the same thing and she said yeah. So her responses are just really inconsistent. Sometimes she’s not responsive and just stares into space. She smiles a lot. She has a lot of re learning to do. It has been a little over a month since the accident. I have the go fund me money going directly into my savings account and I keep it there for bills and a new car for her if she is able to drive in the future.

1/23/26 : Updates have slowed down a lot. She is stable and we are just waiting on her to show more signs of recovery. It is a very long process and I probably won’t have updates too often anymore unless there is a significant change. No news is good news. These donations have been helping so much, I appreciate everyone that has donated or even just prayed.

1/18/26 : She doesn’t need the ventilator anymore. She understands things that we say or ask her. She can nod her head yes/no to questions. Praising God!

1/14/26 Update : She has been transferred to a new hospital and is going to start occupational therapy. They will see if they can get her off of the ventilator as well as try to re-teach her how to do things. She isn’t considered to be awake, but she opens her eyes and moves around a lot. The last time I visited her, when I talked she would look in my direction. She is aware of her surroundings.

1/12/26 Update : They are slowly removing some of the ICU equipment, the nurse said her need for ICU care is becoming less and less which is good. Once she doesn’t need any of the ICU equipment they’ll move her to that rehabilitation place. These last 12 days have been extremely hard on us emotionally. It continues to be hard on us, but it helps to remind ourselves that god will heal her and he will provide us with what we need. These gofundme donations automatically go into my savings account and goes towards our mortgage payments. I appreciate all of the people that have been donating. We still haven’t reached our end goal, i would love to have funds to get my mom a new car when the time comes. It is still very far into the future though. She has a very long way to go. If you are unable to donate, i understand and just ask that you share this and pray. Prayers are the most important thing right now.

Update : They did the tracheotomy yesterday. They took her off of the sedation to see if she will wake up on her own. They said the type of brain injury she got is severe. It's called diffuse axonal injury. They said that even though she's moving around there's that possibility that she won't wake up. There's levels 1-3 on the injury and she is level 2. We’re just in a waiting season. I’ll do more updates once there’s been a change.

Update : They said that they were considering an exam where they put a tiny camera up an artery in her thigh all the way up to the brain, but they did a ct scan first and they said that the camera exam wasn't necessary, that's good thing. They said that depending on how the recovery goes that they will consider doing a tracheostomy because the breathing tube down the throat for too long can start to cause damage to the throat, they said that a tracheostomy is actually more beneficial to the recovery because they would be able to lower the sedation even more. Her vitals and scans have been staying stable. We’re just in a waiting period. They said that she gets agitated when they lower the sedation and that’s just a sign that she’s not ready to be woke up yet. They said that everyone recovers at different paces, some people take days, some people can take weeks or even longer. It just depends on my mom.

Update : She is slowly making improvement. The doctors say she shouldn’t need surgery, so they’ve began giving her food through a feeding tube. Periodically they turn off the breathing machine to let her breathe on her own, they said her lungs are doing good. The ct scans show that the brain bleeding is stabilized. The doctors are being optimistic. She has equal amounts of strength on both sides of her body. She moves her legs and arms, and she opens her eyes sometimes for a moment. The doctors are now monitoring her brain activity with an eeg.

My name is Sydney. I need to put together this gofundme to help my mom. She was driving to work, the roads were bad from the snow and she got into a bad car accident. She is in the hospital in the ICU with a brain injury. She has bleeding in her brain. Her car was totaled in this accident. I live with her, my brother and my daughter. We split our bills and we are going to struggle while she is recovering. I’m looking for help with bills and to get her a car.
