Care for Mom with Alzheimers

TLDR: Social Security claims they overpaid funds for my mother last year and are withholding $3k this month that my mother and her husband (her full-time caretaker) need for food and rent, so they don't lose their housing in October.

Full Story: Every elder in my family has fallen to Alzheimers. My mother and I watched my Grandmother slowly dissipate into a vegetative state over the course of years; the same is happening with my Mother now. She is 68 years old, and this slow decline began about six years ago, taking a tremendous toll on my and her husband's health/life. He has been her primary caretaker this entire time, and I have been helping part-time in the ways that I can. However, I live a couple of hundred miles away and have been chronically underemployed since the beginning of the pandemic in 2020. Throughout this journey, we have tried desperately to work within a corrupt governmental/law system that refuses to support people with long-term disabilities and strips people of dignity in their death process. I could tell countless horror stories of watching lawyers tear down my confused mother trying to disprove her real mental degradation or spending days/months navigating an exhausted, underfunded, corrupt hospital system, but that's not the point here.

The real story is that my mother is the sweetest, kindest, most timid, most selfless woman I've ever known, and I will do everything in my power to ensure she at least has her necessities of food and shelter in her final years. Her husband has been trying to appeal this Social Security claim that they have been overpaying them, as these payments have barely covered their bills/necessities. Unfortunately, it does not seem that they are going to budge, and because I do not have thousands (even hundreds) to spare, we could use any help you could spare to keep my mother and her husband afloat. It's a sad state of affairs that despite the obscene wealth of this country (built off the backs of enslaved, colonized, hard working people), we still must ask our community for help to fund our basic necessities, but these are the times we live in.

Any help you could give would go a long way to ensuring my mother and her husband don't lose their apartment or go hungry. Thank you so much in advance for your generosity and support in any amount or through sharing this campaign!
