Miles has been diagnosed with Spina Bifida at 16 weeks gestational age. He had fetal surgery at 29 weeks gestational age to close the gap in his spine and reverse his hydrocephalus so he would have the best chance to walk independently and lower the risk of needing a shunt.

He was born on 2/20/26 at St John Providence in Santa Monica by an emergency c section and was transferred to CHLA one hour after birth so he could be taken care of by the spina bifida specialists there.

He is currently in the NICU and is breathing on his own. He is already achieving great milestones for a 34 weeks premie baby but there is still a long way to go. He will need special care for his feet, physical therapy and a bunch of other exams related to spina bifida.
