It wasn’t a car accident. It wasn’t something reckless or dramatic.
Mike fell out of the shower.
A normal day. A normal routine. A split second that changed everything.
The fall caused a catastrophic spinal cord injury, leaving Mike quadriplegic — paralyzed from the shoulders down. In an instant, the man who walked into the bathroom on his own lost the ability to move his arms or legs. He cannot sit up without help. He cannot feed himself. He cannot hold a phone. He cannot hug the people he loves.
One small slip. One moment. A lifetime of consequences. He is not able to work or help his daughter with her college tuition any more. His wife and daughter will never get a hug from him. The family dynamics are different now. His wife will also become one of his nurses while working 40 hours a week. Hospital rooms have replaced his home. Machines, specialists, and endless procedures have replaced his normal life. The independence he once had is gone, and the emotional toll is devastating.
He is grieving the life he had just days ago.
Quadriplegia means 24/7 care, extensive rehabilitation, specialized wheelchairs, home modifications, and lifelong medical expenses. The financial weight of this reality is crushing. No one prepares for a shower to become the moment their world falls apart.
We are asking for help because we cannot carry this alone. Donations will go toward:
Ongoing hospital and rehabilitation costs
Full-time in-home care
Wheelchair-accessible home renovations
Adaptive medical equipment
Transportation and medical supplies
Mike’s future looks nothing like it did before that day. But with your support, we can help him receive the care he needs and preserve what dignity and comfort we can.
If you’re able to donate, please know you are helping ease a burden that feels unbearable. If you can’t, sharing this page and keeping Mike in your thoughts means more than words can say.
A simple fall stole his independence. We’re asking for help to give him a chance at stability in this new and heartbreaking reality.
