Hi, my name is Maria Isabel García, and I am asking for help for my Mom.

On Tuesday, February 3rd, my mom was taken to NCH due to blurred vision for more than 15 minutes and unbearable ear pain. The doctors ran labs, a CT scan, and an MRI and found a mass in her frontal lobe. Hearing those words was absolutely devastating for our family. She was rushed to NCH Downtown Baker Hospital because they said they had a neurologist that was able to help her, but when we got there, they confirmed it was a brain tumor and it was too big. It had to be removed immediately because it was growing and putting too much pressure on other nerves. They had to transfer her to the University of Miami Hospital where the best neurologist was going to take care of my mom’s surgery, where she is currently admitted and being cared for by the neurology team. On Tuesday, February 10th at 7:30 a.m., she went through major brain surgery to remove the tumor. The surgery was a success, but during the procedure, she had a stroke, and that caused damage to the right-hand side mobility of her arm and leg as well as her vision. They told us she is going to need rehab after she is discharged from the hospital and therapy. My mom is really strong and always positive and doesn’t give up; she’s always been a fighter and she is giving her best. But our family is trying to prepare for the road ahead. Unfortunately, my dad is the only provider at home and he hasn’t been working because he has been next to my mom at the hospital and taking care of her. Unfortunately, my mom does not have health insurance. We are reaching out to our friends, family, and anyone who is able to help. Any donation will go toward:

* Medical bills for her surgery and hospital stay

* Future rehab and therapy

* Medications and follow-up appointments

* Ongoing living expenses and extended time away from work for my dad

* Other unforeseen costs that come with this diagnosis

Hola, me llamo María Isabel García Villagomez y estoy pidiendo ayuda para mi mamá.

El día martes, 3 de febrero, llevamos a mi mamá al hospital NCH. Los doctores le hicieron laboratorios y una tomografía (CT scan) y encontraron una masa en el lóbulo frontal. Escuchar esas palabras fue devastador para nuestra familia. La trasladaron de urgencia a NCH Downtown Baker Hospital, donde nos explicaron que ahí se encontraba un neurólogo que podría ayudar a mi mamá. Cuando llegamos ahí, el neurólogo nos confirmó que mi mamá tiene un tumor cerebral y nos mostraron el MRI de mi mamá. Nos explicaron que desafortunadamente el tumor que mi mamá tiene ya es demasiado grande y por el tamaño ya estaba dañando otros nervios. Como el cerebro estaba demasiado inflamado, tenían que sacarle el tumor de urgencia, pero como estaba en una zona muy riesgosa, tomaron la decisión de transferirla a la University of Miami Hospital, con uno de los mejores neurólogos. Donde actualmente está ingresada y siendo atendida por el equipo de neurocirugía. El martes, 10 de febrero a las 7:30 a.m., fue sometida a la cirugía cerebral, que duró más de 6 horas. Gracias a Dios, el cirujano pudo extraer el tumor, pero durante la cirugía a mi mamá le dio un derrame que causó que la parte derecha tenga menos fuerza que la izquierda, al igual que su visión. Nos explicaron que mi mamá necesitará rehabilitación y fisioterapia y no podrá moverse por un período prolongado. Mi mamá es muy fuerte y nunca se da por vencida. Siempre muy positiva y yo sé que Dios nos va a ayudar. Como familia estamos tratando de prepararnos para todo lo que viene. Desafortunadamente, mi papá es el único proveedor en la casa y no ha podido trabajar porque ha estado con mi mamá en el hospital y todavía no sabemos cuánto tiempo siga ingresada. Y desafortunadamente mi mamá no tiene seguro médico. Por eso acudimos a nuestros amigos, familiares y a cualquier persona que pueda ayudar. Cualquier donación se utilizará para:

* Las cuentas médicas de su cirugía y hospitalización

* Futuras fisioterapias y rehabilitación

* Medicamentos y citas de seguimiento

* Gastos de vida continuos y el tiempo extendido sin poder trabajar

* Otros costos imprevistos que surjan con este diagnóstico
