On Monday, October 8th, Kelly and Paul Blanchard were both seriously injured in a car accident. 

They were actually returning from Fort Sanders Hospital where they had visited Paul’s dad who was in critical condition after an aneurism.  Paul’s father passed away the next day while Kelly was recovering from surgery to repair several serious injuries.  

During the accident, Kelly broke her right foot which had to be rebuilt with pins and plates, she broke her right hand which also had to be reconstructed with pins, broke her left arm which had to have a plate installed, fractured her sternum (chest bone) and fractured her L2 in her lower back. She was set up with a back brace and miraculously sent home that Friday to recover.  Meanwhile, Paul, with a severe foot injury, hobbled around caring for Kelly and their four children  - yes, FOUR children - until his surgery this week to reconstruct his heel.  

Kelly cannot walk or use her right hand and has to be lifted off the couch and transported around in a wheel chair.  She has been set up for physical and occupational therapy.  Kelly has been informed she will be working on her recovery & unable to return to work for the remainder of the year.  Paul’s foot injury is also very serious and will take months   of rehabilitation. Paul will also be unable to return to his job for an undetermined amount of time.

Those of us who know Kelly are confident that she will not be hosting any pity parties!  She has always been a very dedicated friend, loving mother, devoted wife and hard-working Director of Sales for Margaritaville Island Hotel and Inn in Pigeon Forge, TN.                                

Valet backed up? Kelly will hop up from her stack of pending contracts and go park cars.  Kitchen staff called out? She’ll go down and cook the  food.  (Literally!) Need a banquet room flipped? Blink and you’ll miss that little stubborn petite lady single handedly popping up banquet tables, lugging stacked chairs and doing anything needed to bring every group event off without a hitch.  

The last thing Kelly would ever want is to seem needy.  So, ok Kelly, maybe this is not about your needs.  Let us rally for your four children, your husband Paul and, for ourselves!  We love you and need to feel like we are making a difference and helping you and your family.
