Our beloved Kat was feeling headachy during Krampus Market, the artisan holiday market she designed and organizes each year. The next day, she found herself in the ER, and then Baptist hospital, being treated for four blood clots on her brain. She was hospitalized for a total of five days.
The good news is, she is home and recovering! The more challenging news - she is still considered at risk for a stroke, and is unsure what her recovery will look like. She is feeling sensitive to light and sound, and will need some time to rest.
If you know Kat, you know she is pure magic! If you’ve ever felt inspired by her heartfelt laugh and big genuine hugs - not to mention her vast musical talents, you know she is a treasure to our community and deserves all the very best care.
If you don’t know her personally, you might have seen her as the organizer of Appalachian Murder Ballads, an incredibly popular variety show featuring local High Country talent. Or seen her smooth Leopard Lounge band at Boonerang or Boone Saloon. Or maybe you own one of her lovely pieces of handcrafted jewelry, medicinal tinctures, or pickled veggies from her garden. If you live in the Boone area, I have no doubt that Kat has touched your heart in so many ways!
Thank you for considering supporting our dear sweet magical songstress! She brings so much joy to our community, so let’s reflect some of that joy back to her.
