Matthew 19:26 "Jesus looked at them and said to them, 'With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.'"

Matthew 18:19 "Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven."

Hebrews 11:6 "And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists, and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him."

On Monday, July 2, 2018 Isaiah DeShaun Philpot, 15 years old, was found by his sister and mother unconscious in his bedroom. Isaiah was taken by ambulance to Cobb General Hospital where he was seen on Saturday, June 30, 2018 for headaches and swelling on his right eye.  Prior to the visit at the Emergency Room Isaiah was seen by his primary doctor on Friday, June 22, 2018 and we were informed that he was in great condition, his vision was 20/20, and his hearing was great.

The same nurse that examined Isaiah on Saturday was there when Isaiah arrived at at the emergency room at Cobb General Hospital on Monday, July 2, 2018.  She was really shocked that he was back in the hospital in such a short time and his condition had worsened since Saturday.  They immediately did a CT scan and found an abscess on the right side of his brain where fluid had drained.  The abscess was so severe that he had to be air lifted to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston Hospital.  Isaiah was rushed into surgery immediately to remove the abscess.  They had to remove the perinatal bone before the abscess could be drained.  After surgery the bone flap (perinatal bone) was replaced and Isaiah was able to hear and respond to his mom by nodding his head.  During that time you could also see tears roll down his face.  He was also able to move his right foot, right hand, and left hand after surgery.

On Wednesday, July 4, 2018 Isaiah was in such severe pain from the pressure (fluid) showed now on the left side of his brain and more fluid from the same area after another CT scan showed swelling on his brain that was also being caused by the perinatal bone that was infected but was put back in after the first surgery but fluid now needed to be removed again and fluid drained and the perinatal bone from left side removed and  fluid drain from both areas . On Thursday July 5th, he was starting to show some improvement.  Well we thought, but on Friday July 6th Isaiah was taken back into surgery for a third time to drain more fluid from the same areas and new areas again the left side, middle(crown) area, and frontal areas of his brain.  They also performed the sinus surgery at the same time that was really the main cause of the  fluid build-up that drained to his brain and caused the abscess.

On Monday, July 30, 2018 Isaiah had to have another brain surgery because there was more fluid  build-up on his brain.  The surgeon had to drain fluid from the right, left, and middle area of his brain again  After this surgery the doctors were focused on maintaining his blood pressure and his heart rate. Since this surgery we were convinced the fluid was under control because Isaiah symptoms were improving.

On Thursday, August 9, 2018 Isaiah's breathing tube was removed and they inserted the nasal cannula to help control his breathing. He also needed to wear a neck brace to help keep his airways open. This was a great accomplishment for Isaiah since he had the breathing tube in since July 2, 2018.

On Wednesday, August 15, 2018 Isaiah breathing had improved that the neck brace was removed and he was only using the nasal cannula to help support his breathing.

Now the time has come for us to depart from Egleston Children Hospital and go to Rehab at Scottish Rite.

On Monday, August 20, 2018 we were transported to Scottish Rite for Rehab. Isaiah was finally on his way to getting better and  looking forward to going home. When Isaiah arrived a Scottish Rite he was responsive. He was able to hear, see, move both arms and both legs. But he's not able to swallow, eat, talk or walk at this time.

After attending rehab at Scottish Rite for a month Isaiah had to have another surgery due to fluid on his brain.  Prior to needing this surgery Isaiah had been making improvements.  This surgery involved him receiving a ventriculoperitoneal shunt (VP Shunt) on Thursday, September 20, 2018.  The surgery was needed to help control the drainage of the fluid from his brain.  During this time his status changed from rehab to rehab medical.  In about two weeks Isaiah will have another surgery to replace the infected perinatal bone that was removed from the right side on July 4, 2018 with a manufactured perinatal bone.

Isaiah is smart, energetic, and athletic, lovable and respectful young man that loves to eat as one of his hobbies.  He was in the band, played the percussion at Tapp Middle School. Isaiah was planning to attend McEachern High School and join ROTC his sophomore year.  Isaiah also enjoys playing football for his school and basketball with the Recreational Centers. He is a member of the Trinity Chapel/Seven Springs Church Youth Group.

The surgeries require Isaiah and his family to spend a lot of time in the hospital while the medical personnel continue to help him fight.  Once Isaiah is healed from the many surgeries he will also be faced with many more challenges.  Upon discharge from Scottish Rite Isaiah's lifestyle will be different than it was previously and will require modifications to his home.  These modifications include wheelchair ramps into and throughout the home, converting the dining room into a bedroom, converting one half bathroom into a full bathroom and one full bathroom for wheelchair accessible, and a wheelchair lift.
