Brooks got his chest tube out tonight! Now needing prayers that his lung doesn’t collapse again! Thank you everyone for all the love prayers and support! Next is the vent but not sure when yet hopefully in the next couple of days! He’s off sedation so he’s awake and opening his eyes now
2/15/26 @ 2:45 text update!
Brooks is “doing good! Very awake, alert, active. He’s opening his eyes a lot more(: they turned off the suction on chest tube this morning and re did an xray about 45 minutes ago. It looks good, so they are pulling his chest tube here shortly. still on vent for now they will access again in the morning regarding the vent to see if they can be taken out tomorrow(:”
Keep those prayers coming!
2/14/26 @7:20 Text update from Hayley
So they did another chest x ray this morning. They are taking him off of sedation completely. They have been weaning him off of the nitric oxide machine and should be off of that by this morning sometime. His chest x ray looked good regarding the leak in his chest wall. So with that being said they are going to turn off the suction on his chest tube and as long as he responds well to that and doesn’t have any issues then within the next 24 hours, he should have the chest tube out! I got to hold him last night for about an hour and a half! I pumped right after and holding him and had a good letdown to the point that my breastmilk finally came in! They did adjust his vent settings some because he’s having a lot of secretions in his lungs but that’s normal with the healing process. They upped part of the settings some and dropped a different part. They are doing another chest x ray at 10 so should have another small update then!
Update 2/13/26 @4:00 PM
Just got off of the phone with Hayley.
She wanted to tell you guys there is a reason she was seeing a specialist and that Brooks is here early, and it was one that was essentially the lesser of the risks.
There was a risk of keeping him in until 38 Weeks, there was a risk of keeping him in until 40 weeks (full term), and there was a risk of bringing him earth side early at 37 weeks.
Her, Her OBGYN, and her MFM ALL made the decision to choose the LESSER risk.
Anyways, on to the good news!
Brooks was born at 9:52 am on 2/11/26 weighing in at 9lb 10oz and 21.75 inches, and 37 weeks along. They will be checking his weight again tomorrow.
Last night he was downgraded to a less aggressive vent set at 100% oxygen to 51% oxygen and today he is at 45% oxygen. He was getting agitated with the more aggressive vent. This different one is nicer to his body. They will try to wean him off one of the meds tomorrow so long as he keeps improving.
The percent of oxygen above means the amount of oxygen he is given is that high. Not his personal levels.
He was intubated because his personal levels were dangerously low and was using his “accessory muscles” for too long. In other words- he was in SEVERE respiratory distress. He was incredibly close to having to be resuscitated, and the intubation prevented that.
The severe Respiratory Distress turned out to potentially be due to the lack of “surfactant” on his lungs, making it to where his lungs weren’t fully expanding- which ultimately lead to the lung collapse.
He is sedated enough that he isn’t “bucking” the tube, but he is aware that mom and dad are there because he is grabbing their hands.
His right lung still has a pneumothorax and has a chest tube. There was a miscommunication and the left lung is okay.
His Bilirubin and Sugar levels are also being monitored very closely too but are doing ok.
Now an update on Hayley!
She is sore, but she is doing well. I mean, she did have a major surgery two days ago. She walks the NICU floor frequently to stay mobile but uses a wheelchair to rest to/from the parking garage.
Her milk hasn’t come in just yet, but that’s not stopping this momma from giving Brooks every ounce of colostrum.
That’s it for now! As always, keep this little family in your thoughts and prayers. Your donations are definitely helping keep Shane there by Hayley and Brooks’ side so he doesn’t have to go right back to work and they appreciate them.
Please continue to share Brooks’ story.
Update from Hayley 2/12/26-4:30 PM
Brooks was born yesterday weighing in at 9lb 10oz, approximately 21.75 inches long.
Brooks’ was intubated this morning when Lifeflight arrived to transport him because he was working too hard to breathe.
He is still currently on a ventilator.
He is getting a right sided chest tube due to having a right side pneumothorax. (This is also called a collapsed lung and is caused by having air on the outside of the lung where it does not belong)
He possibly might have another chest tube (on the left side) because the left lung is also collapsed.
It'll be 2-4 days minimum before she can hold him and they will be there a minimum of 2-3 weeks, if all things go well.

With permission, I am sharing the wonderful news that Miss Hayley had Baby Brooks yesterday.
She was required to have a C Section by her MFM at 37 weeks.
This means she was “Term” but Brooks was not “Full Term” with him.
Today, Brooks is being flown to Sacred Heart NICU for further higher level of care to have a little extra help with his lungs.
She will post updates as she can, but her main focus right now is her handsome newborn and her own recovery, as she just had a major surgery to bring him safely into this world.
While Hayley is on Maternity Leave, Shane is hoping to stay with the both of them while Brooks is in the NICU and not have to travel to/from Spokane often.
This GFM is to help cover any potential travel fees they have, any time loss from not working, meals, hotels, etc.
If you could donate here or to her to Venmo (@Hayley-Seylor), or even just simply share this, anything would be greatly appreciated.
In the mean time, we ask that you keep both of them in your thoughts and prayers as they are in Spokane and hopefully Brooks can come home soon.
Also please allow Hayley and Shane the time they need to be with Brooks and not bombard them with a bunch of messages. They will update everyone as they can.
Picture of Brooks is above, and Hayley did give me permission to share his beautiful face with you
