My name is Margaret Haig, sister of the newly departed Priest, Fr Alexander Haig Jr. I am the choir director at St Peter and St Paul parish in Clapham, London.

I am creating this fundraiser for the wife and son of Fr Alexander, who unexpectedly died due to an aggressive brain tumour on 25 June 2026. Mihaela (Ella) and Alexander (Alex) are trying to come to terms with Fr Alexander's sudden repose, which has left his family and community in deep sorrow.

Fr Alexander was ordained Deacon in 2015 and Priest in 2019. He was dedicated to mission work and started a new parish in Eastleigh in 2021, dedicated to the Twelve Apostles, in the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of the British Isles and Ireland. He was a devoted shepherd to his people, a loving husband and father, and a true servant of God.

Ella and Fr Alexander married in 2009 at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of St Andrew in Kentish Town, London, and Alex was born in 2012. Home was Whiteley in Hampshire, with annual family holidays in the Lake District or Sidmouth in Devon. Ella is an Associate Professor at the University of Portsmouth and Alex, now 13, attends secondary school. The parish of Twelve Apostles have been incredibly supportive and generously paid for the majority of funeral costs, with family also contributing. All funds raised here will go directly to Ella and Alex to support their medium term financial needs and their future.

Fr Alexander often used to pose the question publicly  "How can I help?" and would respond to each request. This is a way that you can help his family.
