Care for Faith’s New Chapter

Hello, friends and loved ones of Faith (Heinsch) Lustig. This fundraiser is being managed by Faith’s niece, Casey (Nordman) Fiore.
It’s been ten years since we gathered in the cafeteria, gymnasium and halls of Wilson Elementary School to fundraise for the Lustig family.
After experiencing several troubling symptoms on a spring break trip in 2015, Faith was diagnosed with Chorea, a neurological disorder. This was added to her Stills Disease and other diagnoses that together ended her 23-year teaching career, during which she touched the lives of hundreds of students with her kindness, compassion and humor.
This is a link to a story in the Owatonna People’s Press written in September 2016 with more information on how Faith was diagnosed and how the decision for her to retire was made: Link to 2016 Fundraiser Story
As you may know, the last ten years have taken their toll on Faith’s personality, body and mind. Her family and friends have grieved alongside her and for all she should have had ahead of her.
Faith moved into an apartment on her own a couple years ago, but was admitted to the hospital in Owatonna on October 10, 2026, and was informed she will no longer be able to live independently.
Options are currently being explored as far as assisted living facilities.
Funds raised on this page will be used exclusively for Faith’s bills. In the near term, that means covering costs associated with her apartment and transitioning her care to The Emeralds in Faribault, MN. In the longer term, the funds will still be used exclusively for costs associated with her care, whether she stays at The Emeralds or not.
Thank you so much for your generosity, whether it be in thoughts, prayers or funds. We are so grateful for the community of Owatonna and everyone who loves the Lustig family.
