3/9 Day or Surgery update: Ella is at the Hospital. They will call me before she goes into surgery and when she is out of surgery. They are keeping her overnight (which was news to me) to monitor her heart as this kind of surgery can cause heart arrythmia. I know she is in great hands, but being home without her is very weird. With the removal of the Spleen and masses there will be extra space for the stomach, which can sometimes lead to Bloat (which is deadly), so they will be sewing her stomach to her side as a precaution. They will be sending the Spleen and mast cell out for testing so we know next steps and if Chemo will be required. Thank you again everyone.

Hi my name is Heather, and I am here to ask for help with my Fur-baby Ella's surgery. She has to have a emergent surgery on Monday to remove her spleen and Mast Cell tumor on her belly.

It started a month ago when I took her to the emergency vet in NC, because I could tell something was not right. They said it was Arthritis and sent me home with Doggie Tylenol. Fast forward to a week before I move from NC to NY when she stopped wanting to eat Breakfast...Then post move she was still not interested in eating breakfast. I called her old Oncologist here and they got us this past Tuesday and boy am I glad they did....

The Surgery estimate on the low end is $7, 225 with the high end being $11,810. That doesn't include the $1,900+ that is cost me to get this diagnoses (Consult, X-rays, ulta-sound, FNA, and Pre-op blood work).

I have pet insurance and that will help greatly, but I will be responsible for 10% of the final costs. So any help is better then no help.

Ella is my everything and I wouldn't forgive myself if I didn't do all I could to help her live a long life. *I made sure I wasn't being selfish wanting to do this surgery, Doc assured me her age is not a factor especially as frisky as she is.
