I'm Jillian, Miriam's best friend of nearly 30 years. We grew up together, and her family is like my family. So when her 3 year old daughter received the diagnosis of B‑Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL), I wanted to help them with ongoing care.
Edie was diagnosed with cancer on January 12. Within days she underwent a bone marrow biopsy, lumbar puncture, and port placement, and immediately began intensive chemotherapy. Her treatment will last 2.5 years.
Edie will not be able to attend preschool or enrichment activities due to infection risk, and Edie’s parents, Miriam and Curt, are also expecting a new baby in April.
Edie’s family is devastated by this diagnosis, but they are also overwhelmed by the love and support from their community. Your generosity will help surround Edie and her new baby brother with the care, time, and stability they deserve while their parents focus on getting her through treatment.
Edie’s treatment requires frequent clinic visits, hospital stays, daily medications, and constant monitoring of her blood counts. This, along with a newborn, requires going from 2 incomes down to 1, so that a parent can be at home full time.
Donated funds will provide:
- An at-home caretaker to support caring for Edie and her newborn brother
- Safe, at‑home enrichment for Edie
- Early‑education support and home schooling
- Costs related to Edie's specific ongoing health, immune and nutritional needs
Why this support matters:
The goal is not only to get Edie through treatment medically, but to protect her childhood as much as possible—keeping her connected, active, and engaged when she can’t do “normal” three‑year‑old things. Our hope is to provide support and stability during a time when everything else feels scary and uncertain.
If you’re not in a position to give financially, sharing this page and keeping Edie and her family in your thoughts is also a huge help.
Thank you for standing with my chosen family during the hardest chapter of their lives.
