Care for Dayal

Our dear friend Dayal Gauranga (David Bartolone) was recently in an accident and is now recovering from reconstructive surgery to his left arm. He has always selflessly devoted his time, energy, and resources to ensure that everyone around him thrives, and now is our chance to reciprocate in his time of need.

For the last 15 years Dayal Gauranga has served full time at the Bhakti Center in New York City and currently serves as the Bhakti Center’s director. He has always put the needs of the community first, showing unwavering dedication, often foregoing personal time and financial gain to ensure that the Bhakti Center remains a safe, vibrant, and welcoming place for all. Even in the face of personal sacrifice, Dayal has been there, making sure community events run smoothly, initiatives succeed, and has gone out of his way to be there to support all others. His leadership goes beyond the call of duty, embodying the true spirit of community service.

After his unfortunate accident in August 2023, Dayal received several overwhelming bills totaling over $133,000! Immediately Dayal and his wife, Rasika Gopi worked diligently to apply for charity care and negotiate their bills down to just $14,000. However, since Dayal has given his life in service to the Bhakti Center and other devotional initiatives, his humble salary still makes it difficult to pay off the bills from the accident. (Dayal and Rasika had tried getting insurance in the past, but it was always too expensive for them to pay out of pocket and was never affordable for them.)

Now, as they face this unexpected financial burden, it's our turn to give back and show our appreciation for their incredible service. We believe that, together, we can alleviate some of the financial stress Dayal and Rasika are facing and ensure they can continue their outstanding work without the burden of unexpected expenses.

Here is the breakdown of his bills from the accident:

$4,500 hospital bill

$1,500 anesthesia

$1,400 ambulance

$5,000 physical therapy

$2,600 approximate expected amount for post op and x-rays

$15,000 TOTAL
