Care for Dawkins: A Double Amputee's Story
Donation protected
My baby Dawkins became paralyzed in May of 2020. His care has cost over $60,000 dollars since then and continues to climb. He has had four surgeries: one to try and correct his back, one exploring a possible issue, one to remove a tumor that grew on a front paw due to putting majority of his weight on his front paws and one to remove his back legs. He is now a double amputee. He went through a year and a half of extensive physical therapy that included water therapy. Acupuncture, laser therapy and massages to try and gain back his mobility but by December of 2021 I knew it was time to remove the legs. Right now he requires six different medications with multiple pills for each medication for his doses. This can changed depending if another issue comes up. His bladder and blood constantly need to be monitored, and UTIs can be and have been frequent, each time costing up to $500 for the culture to be completed and the medication costing $200. This, along with his daily needs have added up.
He never had insurance for any of this and I have spent everything I had.
Even through all of this, he is such a happy dog that loves life. This is why i fight right along side with him. I promised him as long as he was fighting I would fight with him.
If you can, please donate to his care. I would greatly appreciate it. This is so hard for me to ask. He is my everything, my soul dog.
