Care for Carter P.

Carter P. was in an ATV accident Memorial Day weekend.  He was life flighted to Dell Children's hospital in Austin.   Carter has major soft tissue damage to his lower right leg from the knee down and a severe puncture wound to his left knee.  Remarkably he has no head or spinal injuries. He is making progress.  He has had wound vacuums placed on both legs and has started PT.  He will continue having wound debridements and PICC care, which require sedation.  Carter will require MAJOR reconstruction/grafting on his right leg and lots of physical therapy. It will be a long road for Carter and his family.   He remains strong, determined and positive.

Carter is an amazing, smart, sweet, funny, young man that loves fishing, gymnastics and hanging out with his friends or big brother (Brayden).  He will be entering 6th grade this year at BDJH in Katy, TX. He is in competitive gymnastics and is determined to get back to the gym as soon as he can. 

The Phillips family is juggling being in Austin with Carter and caring for their other son in Katy.  They will not be able to come home to Katy until Carter is ready to leave the hospital.  As you can imagine, this is extremely difficult being away from their families and friends. Your continued prayers, positive thoughts and well wishes have meant so much to them.  Thank you to all that have called, sent a text or came by to visit. They have an excellent medical staff at Dell and are very pleased with the support of the staff and care of their doctors and nurses.
