Care for Carlos #LoveforLos

Hi, my name is Susan Arias. I'm Carlos's mom. We are fundraising for Carlos who had a major stroke on May 14, 2021. We were told Carlos was probably not going to wakeup from this and if he did he would not have function of his limbs and would likely be paralyzed from the neck down with little ability to communicate. Because he was previously signed up to be an organ donor his organ harvest surgery was scheduled for May 19th, but when the doctor went to do Carlos' final exit examination Carlos miraculously opened his eyes. Had he not been on the organ donation list he may have passed since he had previously requested DNR (do not resuscitate). Thankfully the medical staff has measures in place to give patients every opportunity to awaken before last steps are taken. Carlos has a very long road to recovery ahead of him, but we are ever so thankful that he has awakened.

The family is thankful for all of your encouragement & support. There is no question we have experienced what the medical staff here described as a "miracle".

Carlos needs all of our support to face the challenges before him and deal with these arduous medical procedures.
