Care for Candice: a fundraiser for her caregivers
Donation protected
On Saturday, May 30, 2020, my sister in law Candice entered home hospice care and discontinued treatments for the Cervical Cancer she has been battling for almost 2 years (diagnosed August 2018). She has been a warrior, and it is heartbreaking to see her fight end this way. Although saddened, we are hoping that this decision will allow our family and especially my brother/her husband, Ryan, and her sister, Diane, quality loving time together and much needed peace and relief.
Ryan and Diane are helping with her hospice care at home and are trying to spend as much time with Candice as possible. While the FMLA (Family Medical Leave Act) provides protection from loss of a job for up to 12 weeks of leave, it does not require that wages be paid during the time of leave. This gift of time is precious.
Diane is far from her home in Alabama, and Ryan is being afforded the time from work, but there are still expenses that need to be covered while they are not working and not receiving income. I have started this fundraiser to help provide the cost of living expenses for Candice, Ryan and Diane, with the goal being to cover the expenses (Mortgage, utilities, groceries etc.) that need to be taken care of during the 12 week period that the FMLA allows for.
We deeply appreciate your consideration and all of the love and prayers we have received on this journey thus far. Please know that we love all of you and graciously accept your help, prayers and well wishes.
God Bless,
The Jacobson, French and Cobb families
