I've created a GoFundMe in support of my sister Sonya and her family. Their newborn son Noah, who at 16 days old, started exhibiting some concerning symptoms. As they progressed, Corey and Noah went to their pediatrician and were promptly sent to Baystate via ambulance due to fever and very low O2, with acute respiratory failure.

My sister, who had a C-section two weeks prior, was still recovering and, with their other son, had to get a ride to meet them. Upon arrival, they administered antibiotics, antivirals, and fever reducers, and all tests were coming up negative for the normal viruses. They then did a spinal tap and found he had contracted a rare virus that is deadly to newborns. Treatment was immediately followed.

As they were getting a room, a few doctors came in and advised that he also had contracted viral meningitis on top of it. The first night there, his fever spiked, and he was admitted to Pediatric ICU and out of the pediatric ward as his condition worsened. The chief of infectious control was contacted and sent to them for assistance due to the nature of what Noah had.

Whereas they are still dealing with apnea issues and monitoring his heart, where this can affect, they do not know the extent of any neurological issues, but he will have a long road ahead of him with early intervention and MRIs and CT scans.

We have set up this GoFundMe to assist them with the enormous costs and help them once they are home in taking care of Noah and their almost 3-year-old Bodie, as well as Sonya, who at this point, gave birth 3 weeks ago and is still in the trenches recovering from a C-section and postpartum.
