Care for a caregiver — Dean needs our help now.
Donation protected
Hello, I am writing this on behalf of my brother Dean. Currently, he is in bad medical condition and is awaiting his second hearing for disability. Previously, he was a caregiver for our mother and sacrificed his career to take care of her for over 10 years.
Unfortunately, his health started to decline rapidly within the past few years and he could no longer care for her on his own. Dean has type 2 diabetes and poor circulation, which has forced him to have amputation of some toes on his right foot. He also has severe cirrhosis of the liver, as well as issues with his kidneys and frequent stomach bleeds he was hospitalized for in the past few months.
Since Dean has no income coming in, he is not able to pay his monthly electric and water bills on a regular basis. He struggles to find money and/or assistance each month to keep his bills paid. Having electricity is crucial as his insulin needs to be refrigerated to stay effective for its intended duration. He has tapped out all known state resources to help assist with his bills, and our family has helped him much farther than we financially could. Hence, the idea to ask for help on a broader scale.
We are only asking for $2,500 to help cover his bills until the end of the year. Hopefully, by the end of the year, he will be approved for disability and can have a small but regular income coming in to support himself. Our hope is this will be sufficient to sustain him until he is back on his feet financially.
Since starting this fundraiser for my brother Dean, went to the doctor on May 30th and received news that he has MRSA in his foot in several places and will most likely have to have more toes removed and possibly part of his foot. Thank you all again for your generous donations and May God Bless each of you.
