My name is Margaret Kamer, and I am a grade 10 student at Sacred Heart Academy working on my personal project that is very close to my heart. I have always been passionate about helping others and fascinated by health sciences and the human body. I hope to become a radiation oncologist when I am older, as I am deeply interested in cancer research and treatments. This project is especially meaningful to me because two years ago, my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. Seeing her go through treatment opened my eyes to the challenges cancer patients face, especially during their first chemotherapy sessions.

For my project, I am raising funds to create care baskets for cancer patients who are about to start chemotherapy for the first time. I want each basket to include both practical and comforting items—things people might not think to bring, as well as essentials they’ll use every time. Each basket will have cozy socks, snacks, water bottles, journals, gum or mints, Bible verses, and a 'care checklist.' My hope is that these baskets will bring comfort, encouragement, and a sense of support to patients during a difficult time.
