Care and Treatment of Manny Rivera!

Hi, my name is Debora, and I am trying to raise money to help care for my father, Manny. Manny has dementia and was recently hospitalized due to lack of eating, dehydration and uncontrolled diabetes (hyperglycemia). I have relocated Manny to Florida to be closer to his family and provide better care for him during this stage in his life. Manny has recently completed short-term rehab and has regained the ability to stand, walk, and feed himself again. Unfortunately, while grateful for his progress, the rehabilitation center and his insurance company will no longer cover the cost of staying at the rehabilitation center under care. Due to his dementia and diabetes, Manny cannot live alone and will require assistance taking medications and doing daily activities. Without proper care, he will fall back into the same emergency state he was in before being hospitalized.

My husband and I have three kids, and both work full time. While I am prepared to do what is necessary to help care for my father, I did not realize how expensive and stressful it would be to take care of an aging family member. In addition, working with insurance companies while relocating him has proven difficult, and wait times for applications and approvals will be longer than anticipated.

I don't know what to expect from this account, and even creating a realistic goal amount was difficult for me. I am simply trying to do what I believe is right in caring for my father while not draining my own family physically, emotionally and financially.
