Early Friday morning at approximately 4:30 AM, our friend and coworker Tomas Alvear was struck by a car while walking into work. He was rushed to the emergency room with serious injuries, including head trauma, facial and orbital fractures, swelling in both hands and one knee, along with scrapes and bruises across his body.
In true Tomas fashion, he even attempted to call in after the accident before being taken to the hospital, where he later experienced a seizure. Medical staff quickly administered anti-seizure and pain medications and placed him on a ventilator. Once stabilized, doctors worked to relieve dangerous pressure building in his skull.
Tomas is now out of the emergency room and receiving care in the ICU at University Hospital in Aurora, Colorado.
Tomas recently transitioned from temporary status to full-time earlier this summer. Since then, he has stepped up in every way possible — learning put-away and consolidation, helping wherever needed, and training many of our seasonal outbound team members. He brings humor, resilience, and a positive attitude to work every day, and our workplace will not feel the same while he recovers.
If you are able, please consider donating to support Tomas during his recovery. If donating isn’t possible, we ask that you keep Tomas in your thoughts and send positive energy his way as he heals.
We look forward to the day Tomas can safely return to us.
