Help Support Care & Recovery for Carolyn Halverson

I wanted to share a personal story about my Mom, Carolyn. Almost two and a half years ago she moved back to Minnesota where she was born to be near more family and live in the cooler climate. Her plans were to travel back and forth and become a snowbird. On the early morning of June 17th, my Mom found herself on the kitchen floor of her apartment, not knowing how she got there. Dazed and confused, she was able to pull on her cell phone cord to grab her phone and eventually dial 911 for help. She does not remember the ambulance ride to the hospital or even being admitted. After extensive testing by the doctors she was told she was poisoned by carbon monoxide. It turns out my mother has been living with carbon monoxide poisoning coming from her apartment’s HVAC unit. Currently she is in a rehabilitation center receiving ongoing therapy. Unfortunately, she has gone back to the emergency room twice in the last four and a half weeks. At this time, we do not know the extent of the damage as her road to recovery is unknown. Right now, it is important for her to regain her strength and work with the therapists and doctors for a long-term care plan.

We are asking friends, family, and acquaintances to help relieve arising financial pressures as expenses start to pile up. We are trying to raise enough donations for my Mom to cover her hospital stay, rehabilitation facility (where she still resides) assisted living for at least three or four months, on-going therapy and moving expenses from her apartment.

We would like to Thank everyone that helped organize this support for my mom and that is taking an active part at this time in her life. My Mom is an old-fashioned soul who is very private, but she needs us to rally behind her more than ever so she can focus on regaining her strength.
