Dear Friends, Family, and Community,

I am reaching out today on behalf of my dear friends Brian & Daishau, along with their family.

After years of determination, resilience, and fighting, Brian has just received an incredibly heavy and complex medical diagnosis. The previous nested variant of his cancer has returned, and it is aggressive. It has metastasized to his liver, lungs, and most recently, his left eye and spine.

This news has turned their world upside down. It all unraveled so quickly: after going to the doctor for side pain, scans revealed that the cancer had returned with a vengeance. For the last month, Brian and Daishau have been trying to manage a cascade of ongoing illnesses that have left Brian too weak to care for himself, frequently resulting in emergency room visits. Following recent liver biopsies, Brian experienced complications and is currently in the hospital.

Brian and Daishau are moving as fast as they can, working closely with oncology and palliative care teams to manage his care and treatment options, but options are limited. He is faced with moving to Hospice soon. They have already gone through the previous gold standard of treatments over the last several years, including Neo-adjuvant , dose-dense chemotherapy, radical surgery, quickly followed by immunotherapy. We all deeply had been hoping they would never find themselves back in this position to make these decisions.

The reality of navigating an aggressive, metastatic cancer brings an immense emotional and financial burden. Between specialized medical appointments, rapid treatment, and daily care costs, the expenses are overwhelming. Brian owns his own small business and now is incapacitated, and is unable to work. He is waiting again through SSDI, that he was previously denied for when this first occurred March 2023. Daishau is currently navigating time off using her vacation time, as well as unpaid FMLA to awaiting paid leave Oregon. She is managing their household, work in between while she can, though it’s been hard. Their income has taken a massive hit just as medical needs are peaking.

So many of you have asked how you can wrap your arms around the Ross family right now. We have set up this fund to provide direct relief. Every single dollar raised will go into a secure, dedicated family account used strictly to cover Brian’s medical costs, caregiving needs, and to protect the long-term stability of their household and children: Ivy, Oliver, Elliana and Lux their beloved Cat during this storm.

Our goal is to try and lift some of the financial weight so Daishau can focus entirely on Brian’s comfort and care, and so their children are supported through this incredibly difficult time.
