Help Us Care for Bill Wick in His Final Chapter

For decades, Bill Wick has been a father figure, mentor, pioneer, and known as the Godfather of women’s wrestling. He has given his time, energy, guidance, and heart to countless women and others throughout the wrestling community. To many of us, Bill has been much more than a coach, mentor, or supporter—he has been family.

Now, Bill needs that community to come together for him.

Bill has been living with vascular dementia following a previous brain bleed, and he was recently diagnosed with an aggressive form of blood cancer. His illness has progressed to the point that his body is no longer producing the blood cells it needs to sustain him. His doctors have told us that his time may be limited to weeks or months.

Until very recently, Bill was still managing to live independently. Over the past week, however, his condition has changed dramatically. He can no longer safely walk on his own or manage basic daily needs without assistance, including getting to the bathroom. He now requires around-the-clock care and supervision.

Bill lives solely on Social Security and simply does not have the financial resources to pay for the level of care he now needs. Assisted living, skilled nursing care, hospice-related support, or professional in-home caregivers can cost thousands of dollars each month—far beyond what Bill can afford on his own.

Our goal is to make sure Bill is safe, comfortable, and cared for during the time he has left.

Funds raised will go toward the cost of an appropriate care facility or professional in-home care, as well as other essential expenses related to keeping Bill safe, comfortable, and properly cared for during this time.

If Bill has ever coached you, encouraged you, supported you or made a positive impact in your life, we hope you will consider helping.

No contribution is too small. If you aren’t able to donate, sharing this fundraiser with friends, wrestlers, athletes, and others in the mixed Wrestling community whose lives Bill has touched would mean just as much.

Our greatest wish is that Bill does not have to spend this final chapter worrying about how he will be cared for. He deserves to be somewhere safe and comfortable, surrounded by compassion, dignity, and people who care about him.

I, Jennifer Thomas, am organizing this fundraiser on Bill’s behalf. All donations will be deposited into a dedicated account managed by me and used solely for Bill’s care.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for helping us give Bill the care and comfort he deserves.
