Cardio Units North & South Tyneside. Learning Disabilities
Donation protected
I am a proud member of the All Runs Club (runners who have completed EVERY Great North Run since it began back in 1981). Currently there are 72 members. This year I will complete my 44th Great North Run in a DJ (possibly the best dressed runner in the 2025 GNR?).
I will be running in support of three charities that have a great impact on me in the last year.
Cardio Units at North Tyneside General Hospital and Sunderland Royal Hospital
For the last 4/5 years I had found competing in the GNR harder. Training seemed to be making little difference. Back in June 2023 I started having various tests to try and find out what was wrong. Long story short, my breathing problems were down to heart disease and a heart attack I (unknowingly) had after the 2022 GNR. All of my tests were carried out at North Tyneside General Hospital and I could not have asked for better care. The tests culminated in me having four stents fitted for my heart at Sunderland Royal Hospital 6 weeks before last years GNR. Once again the care and treatment could not have been better. Not surprisingly the stents have made a massive difference!!
Learning Disabilities North East
LD: North East are a local charity supporting people across North Tyneside with learning disabilities and/or autism. The vision is to achieve equality and social inclusion so people can live their life their way. They do this through Community Outreach programs, play opportunities for children 0-5, their siblings and families, sports activities, etc. Support is provided through to adulthood to improve their wellbeing and reduce isolation.
They are an amazing charity and my son has benefited massively from the support of one of their amazing workers.
