When ilikethoseodds and trailhawkbets first reached out wanting to help, my instinct was to say no. I’ve always tried to handle things on my own. But sitting in the doctor’s office for my 5th visit for prosthetic fitting, hearing what I was facing, I realized I had to put my pride aside and accept the support being offered.
What I thought was a broken foot turned out to be something far worse. I learned I had MRSA in my foot, and the infection had already caused bone death. By the time they caught it, the MRSA had entered my bloodstream and I was in sepsis. I spent over a month in the hospital on extremely strong antibiotics, fighting an infection that just wouldn’t let up. Despite everything the doctors tried, my foot wasn’t improving. Eventually, they told me the words no one ever wants to hear: They needed to amputate.
Losing my foot has changed every part of my life. I’ve been out of work for almost eight months because of my health, and the financial strain has hit my family hard. I had built up a nice BR, but medical emergencies don’t care about timing — everything I saved is gone. To make things even harder, my insurance denied my prosthetic, and I’m now in my final appeal. The cost of the prosthetic, along with hospital bills, rehab, medications, and ongoing care, has been overwhelming.
I’m doing everything I can to stay strong for my family, but the truth is: I can’t do this alone. If you’re able to donate, share, or simply send support, it would mean more than I can ever express. Every bit helps me move closer to getting the prosthetic I need, paying down the medical debt, and getting back to providing for my family. Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for helping me through the hardest chapter of my life.
