Cara Hedin

Hi. My name is Jen Straight, and I am writing today about someone myself, my daughter Sutton, and Dave calls 'Sissy'. To

you, she goes by Cara. A steady, strong force in our lives and someone I couldn't be closer to if I tried!

 

On June 3, 2022, Cara was diagnosed with Stage 2, Grade 3 Invasive Ductal Carcinoma. We are all completely floored by this

diagnosis as Cara has been nothing but boringly healthy. Unfortunately, her tumor was deemed too large and aggressive to remove surgically at this point, so the starting action is chemotherapy. She starts 6 rounds over 4 months on Friday, June 24th, followed

by surgery and likely radiation. Her oncologist expects her to be in treatment for an entire year.

 

Between the inevitable out-of-pocket costs and the loss of wages due to upcoming disability leave, it will be an extreme

financial hardship for this single mom. If you feel so compelled, I have set up this Go Fund Me to assist with this trying time. Please note that this link is shareable. So far, she is in good spirits. She has repeatedly said that she has the best support system one could

hope for: including Avery, myself, mom (Barb), Paul, Dave, Sutton, and countless friends.

 

Cara has been a driving, single force in all of our lives, and it will be tough at times to rely on other people, but she knows that this is one of the most important ways to make it through the next year! So, I hope you will take the time to read this through, give her extra positive thoughts and, if possible, donate!
