WHAT ARE WE DOING?
We are raising money to buy a car for our friend, Jonathan Roman. Jon, as we call him, is 19 years old, works part-time as a Warehouse Manager for Servant's Heart Ministry and part-time doing handyman work in the community. He is definitely a deserving young man with lots of potential!
Just to give a little background, Jon unfortunately did not have the best upbringing or circumstances as a child and ultimately was placed with Children's Home Society. Little family support was available, and so his aunt stepped up and cared for Jon and his sister. Jon started out as a young kid volunteering at the food pantry of Servant's Heart Ministry, packing bags of food, helping around the food pantry, and welcoming people that needed help. At the age of 18, Jon was offered a position as a warehouseman at the food pantry and took on more responsibility. After almost two years, he has proven himself to truly care about the ministry of feeding others, he takes pride in his work around the warehouse, and networks with community partners all over Orlando through their visits to the food bank. Jon is like family at Servant's Heart, he is loved by the volunteers and makes long-lasting relationships with the partners he serves through the food delivery program. Jon currently lives with his sister and nephew in Orlando, helping to support them while finishing up his GED!
Jon has a kind heart, a willingness to work, and an aptitude to succeed. He hasn't had the best luck getting a car though, so oftentimes, he will ride the Orlando city bus and take Uber to get to where he's going. It's becoming more and more apparent that a car would be a HUGE BLESSING to him, not only for getting to both his part-time jobs, but also driving food to families in need, finishing up his GED, and doing everyday tasks that make living a little easier (i.e. picking up his nephew from school or day care, going to the grocery store, visiting the dentist).
On another note, Jon recently lost several of his possessions in a house fire, and while the house is okay and he is unharmed, he has had to spend a good bit of his money on some restoration to his bedroom and clothing.
THIS IS WHAT WE NEED!
We are asking everyone we know who care about Jon, who care about Servant's Heart Ministry, to help us initiate a fund and raise money to help us get him a reliable car. Jon has a steady paycheck, pays his bills on time, and even has his car insurance set up! We know he is ready to take the next step in taking care of a car and taking the next step in life! Several of you have asked how you can help and have even offered to donate toward this cause, so here's your chance!
Any and all donations are welcome, we are trying to raise $3000! Your generous gift of $5, $20, $50, $100, or any amount you are able and willing to give, please know that this is for a good cause and is taken very seriously. If you know Jon or have even met him briefly, you know how appreciative he is when someone goes out of their way to help him, he is quite modest about most things. If you haven't met him, please come and bless his life, he can use all the help he can get, and he is the type of person that will pay it forward when he can!
DUE DATE GOAL!
Our goal is to have this money raised up by May 25th, which is Jon's 20th birthday. By that time, he will have completed his GED also! We want to take this opportunity to make this a special year for him, with all the hardship he's experienced in his young life, he is one special guy for giving his life to the community to serve those in need.
Thank you for reading our article today, and please feel free to pass on the info if you like to friends and family. God bless you abundantly! :-)
