On July 23, 2018 the Carr Fire began northwest of Redding, CA near the town of French Gulch. Within days, strong winds and dry conditions led to the fire growing rapidly, eventually jumping the Sacramento River and forcing the evacuation of nearly 40,000 citizens of Redding and the surrounding areas. The highly-destructive, extreme fire ended up taking 8 lives, burning over 1000 homes, and causing billions in damage.
Cornerstone Academy has decided to pay it forward by raising money to help Grant Elementary School (K-8) in Redding, which had nearly 40 families lose their homes. To these ends, we are kicking off our #car4Carr fundraiser. Our goal is to fill a Houston Art Car Parade VW Bug decorated like a pink flamingo with pennies as many times as we can between October 1-12, hence the name Car4Carr. The student body will be competing by grade level in two ways.
1) To be the grade level that raises the most money.
2) To be the grade level that has the highest level of participation.
We would love raise as much money as Oceanside did for our students in need to help the students at the Grant School. Whatever we raise will be delivered to the Grant School in the form of cash gift cards to be distributed to the families in need as determined by the administration of the Grant School.
