Well, here we are. Side of the road once more. The Saturn Vue that I inherited from my grandfather and loved far more than it loved me has given up the ghost and is, according to my mechanics, well and truly dead. The engine that was just replaced last year will not turn over and is outside of any sort of warranty.
So it's time for a new car. Well. A used car. Something in the ten-fifteen thousand range, and there's actually a plethora of decent hybrid or electric options down in SoCal to choose from. The problem is my credit--or lack thereof--both my bank and the dealership agree that I have no bad credit information... because I have no credit whatsoever. Apparently never having needed a loan in the past makes me ineligible for one now that I need it.
So I need a sizeable downpayment to get anything worthwhile, and while I can scrape together a bit, the banks are asking for more than I have available right now.
I hate to ask it, but we live in a society and I need a way to get to work to continue participating in that society.
Thanks friends, for everything you've done in the past. I love you all.
