Car Totaled & Out of Work
Donation protected
Update: Jan 20th
My car was taken to a towing lot the night of the accident, and it has been sitting there since. I was informed by my insurance that they would handle it from there, but there has been some sort of miscommunication or misunderstanding: Because the lot fees have not been paid yet, a lein has now been placed out. Under MY name.
I will most likely have to eat some of the storage costs for the car, or at least enough to remove the lein from my name. There's no guarantee my insurance will pull through before the 28th of January (the deadline for the lein before my car is forcefully seized). As such, I am continuously relying on the support of others to help me see this through until it's well and truly finished.
I continue to rely on the support and generosity of all those who see this donation page. I still need help to get out of this situation. My livelihood is well and truly at stake with how prolonged this accident has become.
Original: January 2nd
On the 28th of December, the very last week of 2022, I was in a car accident that should have been fatal.
A semi truck tagged the back left side of my car, causing me to spin out on the highway and slam into another semi in the far left lane. I started going underneath the 2nd semi, but my car somehow bounced back out into the highway, turned around in the middle lane and completely, absolutely totaled.
This was a hit & run. Neither the truck that hit me or the one I hit stopped. Yet, somehow, I walked away from this without so much as a scratch on me, where I probably should have died on impact.
I relied on this car like a friend. I'm a delivery driver, so I make most of my income through gig work (with apps like GrubHub & Uber). Without a vehicle, I'm out of work in virtually every front. I can't even go to pick up groceries on my own anymore. I've never felt more stuck than I do now, and I need to get back out there to work and continue making ends meet.
I need a new car, and this is a desperate plea to start the process of obtaining a new one.
Even though I walked away from this accident without a single injury, every day after has been so, so painful. This was an accident, it wasn't my fault, but I'm the one who has to deal with the rubble. I know that I can't get myself out of this on my own this time; any and all help & generosity is more than appreciated. You wouldn't just be helping me bounce back, you'd be helping me survive. I can't keep going without work, I need the return to normalcy that I had forged for myself before... this. Please.
