I have set up this fundraiser to help my dear friend Derek continue his fight against the cancer Multiple Myeloma, and receive a potentially life-saving treatment in Houston at MD Anderson Cancer Center.

My goal is to help Derek and his family relieve as much stress as possible so they can focus on getting him through this treatment and his long recovery afterward.

Any donations will go toward travel expenses, food, lodging, medical, and anything else Derek and his family need while in Houston, and will help ease stress and anxiety as Derek and the family once again go to war with Myeloma!

Backstory:

Derek was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma at the age 39 in 2013. After 10 years of constant and multiple chemo regimens, many immunotherapies, 2 stem cell transplants, and many other medical treatments. He has reached the time when a new potentially life-saving therapy is available as he has exhausted all other options. It is not an easy road, and any help you can offer this awesome family will be helping Derek fight Myeloma!

Derek was recently asked to resign as his FMLA has been exhausted. He will now have to cover his entire insurance premiums so he can continue this treatment, and upon travel to Houston, they will not have income from his wife's job either as she takes unpaid FMLA.

His stay in Houston will be 30-45 days, and they will have to cover all of life's usual expenses plus everything while in Houston.

I hope that we can all rally around them and do whatever we can, whether through donations, prayers, or anything else, to help ease at least one burden while they travel down this road!
