Car stolen during son's cancer treatment

Hello. My name is Melody. My 10 year-old grandson, Phoenix has been diagnosed with stage 4 High Risk Neuroblastoma. My son, Michael and his wife Toni were in the hospital with Phoenix while he was receiving treatment and someone stole their car from the Rainbows Babies and Children's Hospital garage. They need their car because they have to drive Phoenix back and forth for his treatments, doctor appointments and in case of an emergency (there have been a few with Phoenix' health and treatment). They have been through so much already this year, and now this.

I am reaching out and asking the community to help cover their deductible the cost of a rental as well as raise money for a new vehicle (the insurance won't cover 100% of a new vehicle). Michael has had to take a great deal of time off of work to be with Phoenix during his treatments. The side effects are terrible and scary and he wants both of his parents with him, so they are not financially able to handle this situation right now. Anything raised above the amount to help with the car will go to the family's expenses.

Update 11/24/2022 - Thanksgiving Day - I am happy to let everyone know the car has been recovered. I am not sure what shape it is in, it is being processed by the police, then it will be turned over to the insurance company to see if it can be fixed. We are beyond happy that it was found and are hoping that some personal, sentimental items that were in the car when it was stolen are still there.

I found out after speaking to my son, Michael, that they are in debt from missing work for treatments and having to pay for regular bills and other things related to Phoenix' care and treatment by using credit cards (Phoenix has been in treatment now for almost a year). The debt is over $20,000 so I am increasing the goal to try and help them get this debt paid off.

After this latest round of treatment, Phoenix has been struggling with nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pains, weakness, exhaustion and mood swings (I think my mood would be all over the place too). He was so weak Wednesday morning (11/23/22) he could barely walk or stay awake. His face was pale with dark circles under his eyes. This is not the first time he has had to go through these side-effects. His parents took him in to Rainbows and they gave him fluids and some medications to try and ease his symptoms. It helped, but he's still experiencing the stomach pains and diarrhea. They have five more months of this treatment to go - five more months of hospital stays followed by five more months of these side-effects followed by more visits to ease the symptoms.

My goal is to relieve their financial burden, and if possible, have a little something left over for Phoenix and Ryley so their parents can purchase them some Christmas presents.

Thank you so much for any help you can provide.
