Dear friends and family,
It's not easy for me to open up like this, but I find myself at a point where I need to reach out for help. As some of you may know, I've been facing a series of challenges that have left me feeling vulnerable and uncertain about the future. I've never been one to ask for assistance, but I realize that I can't go on this journey alone any longer.
In 2021, I had a medical emergency that led to hospitalization due to a Bilateral Pulmonary Embolism and a subsequent diabetes diagnosis. Since then, I've been working tirelessly to recover my health, and I'm grateful for the progress I've made. Alongside my physical health, I've been battling anxiety and agoraphobia, making each step in the recovery process a challenging one.
In June 2022, after 17 years in the Tech industry, I was laid off due to a mass tech layoff. Despite my best efforts and countless applications, I haven't been able to secure new work. I've faced obstacles such as age and experience discrimination, which have impacted my chances in various interviews. It's disheartening to be viewed as either overqualified or underqualified for different roles.
Currently, I'm getting some support through food stamps and Medi Cal, but what I truly need is a stable source of income. I'm considering starting a GoFundMe campaign to raise funds for a car to drive for Uber. I've already been approved to drive, and this might be a way for me to start earning some money. However, I'm apprehensive about asking for help from the people I know. Years of self-isolation due to depression have left me feeling distant from others.
My savings have depleted, and I no longer have unemployment benefits. The fear of ending up homeless in LA is looming over me, and I know that I need to take action soon.
I'm also reaching out to you for any leads or connections you might have in the Los Angeles area. I'm actively seeking QA work or remote positions, and I'm also open to opportunities in retail, hospitality, or the grocery business. Your guidance or any form of assistance would mean the world to me at this critical juncture.
If you feel compelled to support me financially, you can find my Venmo account: @steven-loschnig. But even if you can't contribute monetarily, your advice, connections, or even just lending an ear to listen would be immensely valuable to me.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking the time to read this and for considering any help you can provide. Your support means more than words can express, and I hope that together, we can overcome these challenges and create a brighter future.
With deep gratitude,
Steven
