Car for Family of Ukrainian Newcomers
Donation protected
We are Paul Moses and Olivia Cooper, a retired attorney and an undergraduate student in Orange County, California. We are working with Stan and Alona, who fled Ukraine when the war began and have now settled in Orange County with their children, ages 10 and 8, who have begun school.
The family has to return the car that a friend lent them and they are desperate to find an inexpensive, dependable car of their own. Public transportation in Orange County is very time-consuming and inconvenient, especially since the children's school is too far to walk/bike.
The family is being helped by an 8-person “welcome circle” of volunteers, organized by HIAS (the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society) who are assisting them in navigating this new country. We are members of this welcome circle.
Both parents are working hard to improve their English proficiency and both have already received work authorizations. Stan has worked as a project manager and Alona as a computer programmer, and they are studying to familiarize themselves with U.S. computer languages. They hope to find jobs soon, but, until then, they need help covering the cost of a car. All the funds raised will be used to pay for a car and associated costs, such as registration and insurance.
Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.
