I really didn't want to do this, because I know everyone is struggling and surviving as best they can with the pandemic and everything that entails, but then I've just been hit over and over again with more financial burdens and I'm more than a little desperate for help.
So this month has been particularly terrible for me financially. COVID relief for my largest credit card expired today and they refused to renew it upon request, which means I was slapped with an unexpected 400 bill this month. Follow that with my landlord refusing to reduce the rent in my apartment for our lease renewal this month despite paying 300 dollars more than the market value. And with moving fees, deposits, and up-front costs of moving, we can't afford to go anywhere else either, and the landlord has made it clear they will nickel and dime the hell out of us if we try to shift over to another unit.
And my credit score, while not terrible, is not good enough to be approved for a low-interest consolidation loan. In fact, the lowest interest rate I could get with my current credit is an absurd 35%, and I just tried this evening. I also make just enough per week to not qualify for food stamps or unemployment, but just barely enough to make it month-to-month.
This was all compounded early last week when I realized that the gears in my car kept shifting radically and randomly to neutral over short distances, which basically means it would slip into neutral in the middle of the road and have a hard time getting back into gear. So I took it to a shop yesterday, stressed about what it would cost me. Anything over 200 was going to put me in a lot of trouble. So the mechanic calls me back later that day and gives me the worst possible news. The transmission needs to be changed completely, and it's going to cost over 2k. That'd be more than I paid for the car.
As a result, I was forced into looking into other options and managed to find a used car that runs well for just under 1500, and while it's all paid for and taken care of, it still leaves a massive financial burden on my accounts and hampers my ability to move forward substantially.
As such, I am asking for help to recover from this heavy blow. I know everyone's struggling, and I feel horrible for asking, but I feel like I've exhausted all other options I'm aware of. As of right now, I'm only asking for the amount spent on the used car, because I feel like asking for more would be too much. But if I could mitigate the costs of this as much as possible, it would be a HUGE help! Anything that goes over the goal would go directly into paying other bills (credit card debt, food, gas, etc.) Please only give if you can. I don't want anyone to struggle on my account.
